WILL COUNTY, Ill. —

A man was arrested in Illinois after allegedly attempting to traffic almost 19 kilograms of cocaine to Grand Rapids from Mexico.

On the morning of Sept. 20, Will County, IL, sheriff’s deputies pulled over a red Ford Econoline going northbound on I-55 near Joliet, IL, with a large, unsafe crack in the windshield. Court documents say the crack ran from the A-Pillar past the center of the windshield, obstructing the driver’s view.

The deputy talked to the driver, 48-year-old Jose Rodarte-Garcia, who acknowledged the windshield needed to be fixed.

While the deputy was writing a warning, Rodarte-Garcia had a conversation with the deputy, which prompted the officer to ask to search the Ford, which Rodarte-Garcia agreed to.
