A Lenoir man will spend at least 10 years in prison for his role in a New Year’s Day shooting that serious injured a Yadkinville man in downtown Hickory.

Javier Hampton Trevino Jr., 21, of Lenoir, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, District Attorney Scott Reilly’s office said in a news release.

Trevino shot and injured a bystander, identified as Jordan Blake Ramey, after an argument, according to the district attorney's office.

Trevino entered the plea during Catawba County Superior Court on Thursday.

Superior Court Judge Nathaniel J. Poovey imposed a prison sentence of 10 to 13 years for the conviction, the district attorney’s office said.
