A water main break in June on Tomahawk Road north of U.S. Highway 60 required the replacement of 60 feet of 16-inch-wide pipe, the Apache Junction Water District Board was told recently.

The district board, comprised of Apache Junction City Council members, voted unanimously Sept. 16 on the retroactive approval of an emergency repair of the pipe under what is better known as Superstition Freeway using the city of Scottsdale contract with Garney Cos. Inc. in the amount of $41,032.87.

The water main break June 30 was for a pipe that was 8 feet underground, Water District Director Mike Loggins said at the meeting.
