NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The name of the man killed in Thursday’s shooting in Nicholasville has been released.

Police have identified him as 31-year-old James Milton.

The shooting happened at a four-unit apartment building on Edgewood Drive off U.S. 27.

What police say happened

According to investigators, Milton had been arguing with his girlfriend throughout the night. His mother came to the apartment complex on Thursday morning to pick him up.

As Milton was leaving, he saw his girlfriend go into another apartment where the shooter lives with his wife. Witnesses say Milton kicked the door, attempting to force his way inside.
