HMRC has set a crucial Sunday deadline that UK households must meet. The tax authority, operating under the Labour government, is enforcing a Self-Assessment registration cut-off point this Sunday.

Speaking ahead of the deadline, Jamie Stewart, chief executive of binq, said: "This Sunday marks the deadline for Self-Assessment registrations, and a date you can't afford to miss is you've started a business, became self-employed, or earned over £1,000 from untaxed income between April 2024 and April 2025.

"This includes sole traders, freelancers, landlords with rental income, and anyone with side hustles or online trading income. If you owe tax and HMRC thinks you're deliberately evading payment, you could be fined 30% to 100% of what's owed plus interest from the date it w
