PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Over the last 48 hours, three separate shootings happened within a 1.5-mile radius of each other in Central Peoria, and police are still working to learn more.
While it is unclear if the three shootings are related, the violence resulted in the murder of a 15-year-old , the hospitalization of a 46-year-old man , and the grazing of a 19-year-old in a convenience store . Community members are trying to find solutions and prevent similar incidents.
Since shootings near Manual High School in August , the community has come together to host, “Stand up. Show up. Be there.” events every Thursday outside Peoria Public Schools. Neighbors greet kids and help them enter school safely in the morning. This week, they were at Glen Oak Community Learning Center.
