AKRON, Ohio (WJW) -- Springfield Township police said a burglar entered an 86-year-old woman's home through an unlocked window, then hit her in the face when she confronted him.

It happened Wednesday, Oct. 1, at a home in the 3000 block of Overlook Drive, according to a Thursday Facebook post from the department. That's near the intersection of Canton and Tisen roads.

Police said the homeowner woke during the invasion and encountered the suspect, a Black man, who hit her in the face then fled, according to the post.

Detectives searched the area on Thursday, talked with neighbors and reviewed security camera footage, according to the post.
