In Colorado, the federal government shutdown will temporarily spare the lives of several pronghorn, which some refer to as antelope.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced this week that hunting on Fort Carson and the Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site is suspended “due to the federal government shutdown.”

This affects those who had obtained licenses for the pronghorn season beginning Saturday (Oct. 4).

Hunters can bring their licenses to a CPW field office for a refund, or apply for a refund via mail, but applications must be postmarked before Oct. 4.

CPW added that the government shutdown could affect other big-game hunting seasons as well.
