Srinagar, Oct 03: Despite recent flood damage on NH-44, fresh milestones are set to ease travel on the treacherous Ramban-Banihal stretch of the Jammu-Srinagar highway.

Quoting NHAI media reports said that the Digdole–Panthyal twin-tube tunnel (2.6 km and 3 km) is expected to be completed by January 2026, while the Marog–Digdole tunnel (4.2 km) will be ready by June 2027. A flyover project beyond Ramsu is also targeted for completion by the end of 2026.

Officials said once these projects are operational, the highway’s most dangerous stretches will be bypassed, congestion will ease, and travel time between Jammu and Srinagar will be cut to around four hours. (KINS)
