GRIMES, Iowa —
Authorities are evacuating several blocks of a Grimes neighborhood due to a large gas leak.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office said anyone between NW 7th Street and NW 3rd Street Place on NW Morningside Drive should evacuate the area.
"Please avoid this area until it is determined to be safe," the sheriff's office said in a news release.
A construction worker hit a gas line Friday morning near 405 NW Morningside Drive.
"Black Hills Energy is on scene but requested assistance from the fire department and law enforcement," the release said.
