An outbreak of measles has been confirmed in eight individuals in Upstate South Carolina as of Oct. 1.

According to the South Carolina Department of Public Health , five out of eight cases that fell ill in the past month and are part of a new outbreak. Those involved in the current outbreak are reportedly unvaccinated and do not have immunity from a previous measles infection.
