Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer believe Wayne Rooney was wrong to blame Manchester United's poor start to the campaign on the players.

Ruben Amorim's side's 3-1 away defeat to Brentford left the Red Devils 14th in the Premier League . It was the club's third loss in six Premier League matches and one which sapped any and all momentum gained by the 2-1 home victory over Chelsea.

Rooney recently hit out at the current squad, stating many players did not deserve to wear the shirt . However, Lineker and Shearer were not completely on board with the former England and United skipper.
