AIRLINE passengers hoping for relief from surprise charges may still see change, despite major carriers fighting hard to block new rules.

The controversial “hidden fees” regulation has now landed before all 17 judges of a powerful federal appeals court .

The Fifth US Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans announced on October 2 that it will rehear the case “en banc,” putting the consumer-friendly law back in the spotlight.

At the center of the fight is a rule from April 2024 that forces airlines and ticket sellers to show baggage , seat, and other add-on fees at the start of booking.

The Department of Transportation, under the Biden administration, said the measure was meant to protect passengers from “surprise airline junk fees.”
