HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Gov. Ned Lamont and other state officials attended a send-off for the Connecticut National Guard on Friday.

The soldiers of the first Battalion, 102nd Infantry Regiment, will deploy for one year in the Middle East.

They will be responsible for providing base defense, including entry control point security and counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
