WASHINGTON D.C. (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court announced it will consider overturning a Hawaii law that limits where people can carry firearms in the state.
A judge previously blocked the “Sensitive Places” law after it was challenged by gun rights groups, however, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the decision.
The Trump administration urged the justices to take the case and argues that the law violates the court’s 2022 ruling and found that the Second Amendment gives people the right to carry firearms.
The court will now consider the law that actively bans firearms on private property such as store locations and hotels unless otherwise specified verbally or with signage.
