The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has announced the suspension of the Vaishno Devi Yatra from October 5 to 7, 2025, in response to an inclement weather advisory issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

An advisory states if weather permits the pilgrimage will resume on October 8, 2025.

“The devotees are urged to monitor official channels for real-time updates to ensure safety during this period of heightened weather risks,” it states, adding, “The decision comes as a powerful Western Disturbance approaches Northwest India, including Jammu and Kashmir, bringing forecasts of moderate to heavy rainfall in the plains and significant snowfall in higher reaches from October 4 to 7, with peak intensity around October 6.”
