ARLINGTON – Joe Gervais announced this week that he is running for the post of state chairman of the Republican Party .

Gervais, of Arlington, is currently the Bennington County party chair. He is expected to face current state Chairman Paul Dame, a former state representative from Chittenden County who has held the state GOP chairmanship for the past four years.

The biennial political party reorganization process begins at the town or city level, with local committees affirming leadership teams, replacing team members and/or filling vacancies.

The Bennington County Republican Party will meet on October 19 at the Community House in Arlington, and the state party reorganization meeting will be held in November.
