MADISON (WKOW) — Gov. Tony Evers signed a bipartisan bill Friday aimed at curbing the misuse of AI-generated images .
The legislation updates Wisconsin's criminal code to address the growing concerns surrounding artificial intelligence.
Senate Bill 33 , now recognized as 2025 Wisconsin Act 34, expands the crime of representations depicting nudity and defines "synthetic intimate representation." It prohibits the distribution or exhibition of such representations with the intent to harass or intimidate.
The bill also bans the reproduction of a private representation of an individual without their consent.
The bill will take effect the day after its publication.
