The Rev. Karen Hernández-Granzen finds inspiration through providing people in marginalized communities with love, acceptance and support.
“I have seen the grief of the LGBTQIA community being ignored, being judged, being rejected. So what inspires me is when I make sure that the doors are open,” said Hernández-Granzen, 64, who has been the pastor of Trenton-based Westminster Presbyterian Church for 30 years.
“Folks of every background come to my church, but the formerly incarcerated and LGBTQIA communities are probably the most negatively stigmatized communities,” added Hernández-Granzen, of Lawrence. “So, it inspires me to make room for them at the table, and then to see them thrive.”
