As a partisan standoff continues in Washington amid the government shutdown, a new poll reveals significant alignment between President Donald Trump’s base and a central demand of Democrats in the spending battle.

According to a new poll released Friday by KFF, a nonpartisan health research group, 59% of Republicans and 57% of “Make American Great Again” supporters back the extension of Obamacare subsidies that are set to expire by the end of the year. The poll was conducted from Sept. 23 through Sept. 29, right before Congress failed to pass a spending measure to keep the government open late Tuesday.
