An 18-year-old Bronx man was arrested Saturday night after leading New York state police on two high-speed chases on Interstate 87—reaching speeds of up to 130 mph and striking a police vehicle—before being stopped with a precision maneuver and taken into custody.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, at approximately 9:03 p.m., a trooper from Kingston’s state police barracks observed a 2010 Nissan traveling northbound on I-87 in the town of New Paltz in alleged violation of traffic law.
The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the town of Ulster, but the vehicle failed to comply and continued northbound. A pursuit ensued, lasting approximately 12 minutes and reaching speeds of up to 130 mph. The pursuit was terminated shortly after, and the vehicle fled the area.
