SUMMERVILLE — Police charged a man with arson after he allegedly set fire to a house he was about to be evicted from.

Officers responded to a home on Salterton Street just before 5:30 p.m. Oct. 2 for a reported structure fire, according to an incident report. Several people called dispatch about the fire, and one caller said the blaze was set on purpose.

When police arrived, the home was completely engulfed, the report said.

One officer spoke with a neighbor who said the person residing there, later identified as Jason Lemar King, had approached him in his driveway and said the house was about to burn down before walking to the back of the home.
