With the final preseason game coming against the New York Rangers on Saturday at the Garden, the Bruins made a large patch of cuts on Friday. There was some notable players going back to Providence, but no real surprises.
Both Georgii Merkulov and Fabian Lysell, two of the P-Bruins top producers the last three years, were sent back to the farm. Neither made much of an impact in their preseason games. Lysell had looked decent in his first two games at the start of camp but in his final shot on Thursday in Washington, he had several turnovers and then took a potentially costly offensive zone penalty in the B’s 3-1 win against the Capitals.
Merkulov, Providence’s leading scorer for the last three seasons,, will have to go through waivers while Lysell is still waiver exempt. Other players pl
