California is already spending hundreds of millions of dollars to hold a special election next month to consider if the state should temporarily adopt a partisan Congressional district map.

But a mistake in the voter guide that was recently mailed out will cost the state millions of dollars more, money that would never have needed to be spent if Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrats in the Legislature did not push for mid-decade redistricting.
