Tyendinaga and Ontario Provincial Police have seized more than 72,000 cannabis plants in an investigation into what they describe as organized-crime operations growing cannabis illegally on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.

In a joint news release Friday, police announced they had arrested 10 people, “including six non-community members,” and seized three firearms and ammunition, along with $530,000 in items related to the operations. Police estimated the total value of the seized plants to be more than $122 million.

The sites searched by officers were part of “an organized criminal network allegedly operating illicit cannabis production” on the reserve, the release stated.
