Hamilton police are investigating a distraction theft in the city’s east end — the latest in a rash of similar incidents this year.

On Wednesday Sept. 24, around 1:15 p.m., police responded to a theft report near Main Street East and Parkdale Avenue North.

Police said the victim was approached by multiple suspects in a black Ford Explorer while standing in front of his residence.

A female passenger engaged the man in conversation, police said, then physically pulled him by the neck toward the vehicle to place a necklace on him while removing his gold necklace.

Police describe the first suspect as female, approximately 40 years old, large build, tan complexion with black hair tied back. She was wearing a red shirt.
