PHILADELPHIA − The matchup is one for the ages, where the Phillies batters will face Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani on the mound in Game 1 of the NLDS, while the Phillies pitchers will try to get him out as a leadoff hitter.
Of course, the Phillies hitters will have to do better against Ohtani than they did last time, when they faced him on Sept. 16 at Dodger Stadium. In that game, Ohtani pitched five no-hit innings. He did walk a batter and struck out five.
Yet the Phillies, who trailed 4-0 when Ohtani was pulled after 68 pitches, scored six runs in the sixth inning, then three more in the ninth off the Dodgers' bullpen to win, 9-6. Buy Philadelphia Phillies tickets
