WASHINGTON — A protest encampment outside of D.C.'s Union Station was cleared Friday morning by crews that appear to be members of the U.S. National Park Service and United States Park Police.

Members of the group For Liberation and Resistance Everywhere (FLARE) posted videos on social media of the clearing that they say happened around 5 a.m. The group alleges that their property was illegally seized and that the permit was revoked with no warning.

WUSA9 has reached out to both the National Park Service and Park Police for comment, but has not yet heard back.

FLARE's website says the protest encampment popped up on May 1 and members had told WUSA9 that they had permission to be erected outside the transit center until the end of 2025.
