One person has been arrested in a Friday shooting on upper Broad Street after trying to flee through downtown Augusta first in an SUV, then on foot.

The person, as yet unidentified by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, was sought in connection with the shooting of 39-year-old Larry Meminger of Augusta, the agency reported Friday afternoon.

Officers answering a call about a shooting victim arrived at Aiken Tires, 2040 Broad St., about 9:30 a.m. Meminger had been shot several times just a few hundred feet away at the corner of Curry Street and Browns Lane next to the Family Dollar store at 1991 Broad St.
