PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Nurses and health professionals working for Kaiser Permanente in Oregon and southwest Washington will begin a strike on Oct. 14 unless they reach a tentative agreement, the union announced on Friday.

The union, Oregon Federation of Nurses & Health Professionals, represents nearly 4,000 healthcare workers in four different bargaining units. Members work at Sunyside Medical Center and Westside Medical Center, along with surgical centers and clinics along western Oregon and north into Washington.

According to the union, their contracts ended Sept. 30, and bargaining with Kaiser has been “ongoing for months with very little progress.”
