Pair of Red Sox infielders comment on potential contract opt-outs

The Boston Red Sox saw their season come to an end on Thursday after a 4-0 loss to the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Wild Card series.

Now, with the offseason starting for the Red Sox, two major decisions loom regarding infielders Trevor Story and Alex Bregman.

Both Story and Bregman can opt-out of their current deals with the Red Sox. Now with the season over, both players were asked about the potential of departing Boston.

“It’s not at the top of mind. I’m not gonna speak on that right now,” Story told Chris Cotillo of Masslive.com . “But I came here to be here for a long time.”

Story just wrapped up the fourth season of a six-year, $140 million deal he signed in 2022.
