GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The University of Michigan men’s basketball team will honor one of their all-time greats this season. The program announced Friday that the team will retire Trey Burke’s jersey number.

Burke’s No. 3 will be hung in the rafters when the Wolverines host Ohio State at Crisler Center on Jan. 23.

The Columbus, Ohio, native played two seasons in Ann Arbor and cemented himself as one of the best in team history. He averaged 14.8 points and 4.6 assists per game in his first year, setting the team’s freshman assist record and earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.
