CHATHAM, Ill. (WTVO) — Authorities will not file charges against Marianne Akers, the driver in a crash that killed five young people at an after-school camp in Chatham, Illinois, after investigators concluded she likely suffered a seizure behind the wheel.

The crash occurred on April 28th when Akers' vehicle drove through a field and hit a building at 40 miles per hour. Police have determined that Akers was likely experiencing a seizure at the time of the incident, ruling out alcohol or drugs as factors.

"She has absolutely no recollection of the occurrence," said Akers' attorney, W. Scott Hanken. "Her first recollection, absent leaving work and driving, was her interaction outside of her Jeep, and that was after the incident occurred."
