Calgarian Manpreet Kaur endured months of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband before he strangled her, court heard Friday.

And following Maninderpreet Singh’s release by police the day after his wife’s bloodied and battered body was found in their northeast Calgary home, he jumped from a third-floor balcony in an apparent suicide attempt.

Singh, 24, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the April 21, 2024, death of his wife.
