LINCOLN, Neb. —

Offense was the name of the game for quite a few years for the Huskers, but during the 1996 Nebraska-Michigan State game, it was the Blackshirts who ruled the field.

"Overall it was a great start against what I thought was a pretty good football team coming in," coach Tom Osborne said.

"We took it upon ourselves to come out and prove to everybody out there that we're going to be the dominating defense that everybody has been writing about," said safety Mike Minter.
