COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio has launched an initiative geared toward school transportation safety, Gov. Mike DeWine announced Friday.

The Ohio School Bus Safety Grant Program, which received $10 million in funding, provides competitive grants to eligible applicants for the repair, replacement or addition of safety features to active or newly purchased school buses.

“Whether they are in the classroom or on the school bus, our commitment to parents and families is to do whatever we can to keep students safe,” DeWine said in a release. “These School Bus Safety Grant funds further this goal to ensure Ohio students are safe on their way to and from school, and when traveling to athletics and other school activities.”
