WARREN, Minn. — Leonard Novak, longtime owner of the Sky-Vu Drive-In in Warren, passed away Wednesday at the age of 83, his family said. He had struggled with oxygen issues for several years.

Novak took over the Sky-Vu in 1973 and spent decades working in the ticket booth, snack bar and overseeing the drive-in. In recent years, he watched the movie grounds from his recliner as his children ran the theater.

“When it came to making the food, he made the barbecue and it had to be a special way, and if it wasn’t done the right way, he would throw it away and start all over again. He was a perfectionist when it came to the drive-in,” said Steve Novak, co-owner of Sky-Vu.
