NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) -- A New Iberia man was was convicted of two counts of attempted first degree murder and one count of felon in possession of a firearm earlier today, officials said.
Anthony Mallery, 40, of New Iberia, received convictions stemming from an incident in Loreauville in November of 2021.
One of the victims, Mallery’s half-brother, was on his way to pick up an employee and had offered Mallery a ride. While the two victims worked to hook a trailer up to their truck, Mallery shot one of the victims in the face and started shooting at his half-brother, who hid under a house, police reported.
Mallery stole the truck and fled from law enforcement, eventually crashing the truck and hiding in a cane field. Police said Mallery had two firearms in his waistband when he was appr
