Months after a split verdict was handed down in his infamous federal sex-crimes trial, Sean "Diddy" Combs was sentenced to more than four years in prison.

Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that a 50-month prison sentence was fitting for Combs, 55, who has been jailed at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center in New York since his arrest in September 2024.

While applauding the Grammy-winner's recovery from drug addiction, the judge said a "history of good works can't wipe away" Combs' abuse toward his former girlfriends, ex-R&B star Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine and an anonymous woman identified as "Jane."

"I want to personally apologize again to Cassie Ventura for any harm or hurt that I caused to her, emotionally or physically. My actions were disgusting, shameful and sick," Combs said in court.

While the Bad Boy Records founder was acquitted of his most serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking on July 2, he was still convicted of the lesser count of the transportation to engage in prostitution charge. Subramanian's ruling comes after he denied Comb's legal team's motion to overturn his criminal conviction or grant him a new trial on Tuesday, Sept. 30, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY.

Attorneys Douglas Wigdor and Meredith Firetog, who represent Ventura Fine, shared a statement saying nothing can undo the trauma Combs caused, but the sentence "recognizes the impact of the serious offenses he committed."

Meanwhile, Combs' lawyer Brian Steel said Friday's sentencing "is not about him" and added that even in Combs' broken state, his client has had his family on his mind the entire time.

Ahead of Friday's hearing, the disgraced hip hop mogul was eligible for up to 20 years in prison due to his two counts carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years each. His attorneys argued for a 14-month sentence.
