A former employee of the New York Jets has filed a lawsuit against the team, accusing them of firing her as part of a response to accusations of sexual misconduct against team president Hymie Elhai.
The lawsuit, filed on Thursday by former vice president Elaine Chen, alleges that the team fired her and her husband, Larry Fitzpatrick, after an investigation into claims against Elhai.
Fitzpatrick was the team’s VP for ticket sales.
The Jets acknowledged the suit on Friday, the same day it was obtained by The Athletic, and have since hit back at Chen, insisting that she fabricated a story that was investigated and found to be untrue.
They are now planning to sue for defamation and libel.
