Hamas has expressed that US President Donald Trump's call for Israel to halt its bombing of Gaza is "encouraging." The group indicated its willingness to negotiate for the release of hostages and to work towards ending the ongoing conflict.

On Friday, Trump urged Israel to immediately cease its military actions in Gaza, stating that Hamas was prepared for peace. He noted that the situation was too dangerous for the safe release of hostages and emphasized the need for a lasting peace in the region.

Trump's comments followed a statement from Hamas, which showed a partial acceptance of his Middle East peace plan. The group mentioned its readiness to release hostages and transfer control of Gaza to a technocratic Palestinian administration, although it acknowledged that further discussions on other aspects of the plan were necessary.

Hamas also expressed gratitude to Arab and international mediators, including Trump, for their efforts in facilitating dialogue. This shift in tone from Hamas marks a significant development, especially after Trump had previously set a deadline for the group to accept his proposal, warning of severe consequences if they did not comply.

In his latest remarks, Trump reiterated, "This is not about Gaza alone. This is about long sought PEACE in the Middle East."
