A police sergeant has been indicted by a grand jury after an investigation revealed she submitted fraudulent forms in an attempt to get her friend’s traffic tickets dismissed, authorities said on Friday.

Yolanda Holmes, 44, of Somerset, a sergeant with the Orange Police Department, was indicted on Friday on six counts of forgery, and two counts each of tampering with records, tampering with public records and official misconduct, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Holmes is accused of forging the signatures of one officer and one sergeant on two Request to Dismiss or Void Complaint forms on March 24, 2023. Following the submittal of the forms, one ticket was dismissed, authorities said.
