PINE BLUFF, Ark. — October 5 marks five years since Pine Bluff Police Detective Kevin Collins was killed in the line of duty—a tragic loss that sent shockwaves through the community, the law enforcement family across Arkansas, and most deeply, his loved ones.

Collins, just 35 years old, was fatally shot while conducting a stakeout involving a murder suspect from Georgia. The day remains seared in the memory of his mother, Doretta Hobbs, who recently sat down to reflect on the pain of that day—and the enduring impact of her son’s life.
