SPRINGFIELD, MO - This week marks the halfway point of a four-month-long construction project that has led to the closure of one of the city’s busiest streets.

Since the first week of August, W. Sunshine St., just west of Scenic Avenue, has been closed for the replacement of an overpass. The bridge, which spans the MNA Railroad, was torn down, and a new one is being built in its place.

Due to the project, the road has been closed on both sides of the site, creating a gap in W. Sunshine Street and forcing drivers to take lengthy detours.

Leading up to the project, nearby business owners told Ozarks First they’re concerned about how the closure would impact them. Sunshine remains open on both sides leading up to the construction site, and all access is still in place for all businesses. H
