The Louisiana National Guard, Louisiana State Police, and the New Orleans Police Department met Friday to discuss deploying the National Guard in response to rising crime concerns after a violent week.

NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick explained that the National Guard will operate under their own commander, similar to the previous Troop NOLA program, and will not report directly to her.
According to the National Guard, federal funding for the pending mobilization has yet to be approved and no troops are currently mobilized in Louisiana.
The setup is expected to resemble security measures seen during events like the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras in the Fren
