In the gymnasium of Two Rivers Dos Ríos Elementary School, hundreds of students and district and state officials gathered to celebrate Springfield special education teacher Sally Golden as she was named Oregon's Teacher of the Year.

The room erupted in applause as Golden was handed checks for $10,000 and $5,000 as well as plaques commemorating the award.
