RIVERTON, Neb. (KSNB) - The village of Riverton has around 60 people, and they’ve been without water for over a month.

On Labor Day, the town’s only functioning well collapsed leaving Riverton with no reliable source of water.

Water has been hauled in as needed from Franklin to fill the tower.

Franklin County Sheriff Bryon Detlefsen said that a new well is possibly being installed next week, but there is no definite timeline or cost on that installation.

A disaster declaration was submitted, which was the first step towards securing state air from the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency.
