ORANGEBURG, S.C. — This weekend marks South Carolina State University’s homecoming in Orangeburg.

Homecoming at South Carolina State, often called “Coming Home,” is more than a reunion. Generations of alumni return to celebrate and reconnect.

The influx of visitors benefits local businesses across the city. Hotels fill up, restaurants see larger crowds, and vendors report increased sales.

“Enjoying the economic growth of everything that's been happening and allowing entrepreneurship and things to help the community and give back locally to everybody and the students so they can thrive,” said Dante Champagne, a local vendor.

During homecoming, the economic impact is clear. Vendors see lines of customers and a surge in demand for their products.
