West Virginia football does have Mountaineers in its name, but they’ll probably struggle with the sudden steep climb ahead. With Nicco Marchiol sidelined and setbacks hitting other quarterbacks in the room, Rich Rodriguez now faces a full-blown QB crisis. This also comes right before a clash with the dominating BYU in Week 6, causing more panic for WVU fans.
Nicco Marchiol is “out for the season,” On3 confirmed in its injury report ahead of Week 6. This comes after the QB was expected to medically redshirt because of a nagging foot injury. The QB is back home in Arizona, where he is now consulting with doctors. On3’s Pete Nakos also claimed that Marchiol is “expected” to hit the transfer portal. His departure has thrown Rich Rodriguez’s plans for the QB1 situation into the air.
