ELLSWORTH -- An Ellsworth city councilor is urging his fellow council members and city administration to return a family's equity that was taken by the city during a home foreclosure sale.

On the corner of Oak and Main streets in Ellsworth there's a large shipping container with a banner reading: SHAME ON ELLSWORTH!! RETURN THE KARST FAMILY EQUITY!! $117,907.99

"I put right to the penny what the amount is."

The shipping container and banner was done "last Friday afternoon" by Steven O'Halloran, a city councilor and since 1988 the owner of P.E. O'Halloran. He says the banner was paid for out of his own pocket.

His reasoning for it dates back over 5 years, when a man was given a home, 16 Fifth Street in Ellsworth, from his parents will.
